Every industry that relies on identity verification is really asking the same question: is this person who they claim to be? That question sits behind Patronscan’s work in Automotive, retail, and hospitality, and it’s exactly why Patronscan recently joined the Digital ID & Authentication Council of Canada (DIACC) as a Sustaining Member.
What Is DIACC?
DIACC is an important aspect of Canada’s Digital Trust and Verification Ecosystem. They are a strategic alliance of the country’s leading public and private sector organizations working to advance secure, trusted digital services. Its members range from innovative startups to multinational corporations to governments, including the provinces of British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick, alongside organizations like TD Bank, TELUS, Canada Post, Equifax, Interac, Accenture, and EY.
Members work together to shape the Pan-Canadian Trust Framework (PCTF)™, influence digital trust and verification policy and standards, and connect with the organizations defining how Canada verifies identity, both online and in person.
Why Patronscan Joined DIACC
Patronscan joined the DIACC because the future of digital trust and the technology that enables it cannot be shaped by any one company, sector, or level of government. We wanted to participate in the broader Canadian conversation about identity verification, privacy, security, and responsible innovation.
As a Canadian company that has spent more than two decades verifying identity in high-volume, real-world environments, Patronscan brings practical, frontline insight to that conversation, and insight from every kind of business that has to answer “is this person who they say they are?” under real time pressure.

Digital Trust Beyond the Door: From Nightlife to the Dealership Floor
One thing that stands out on DIACC’s member list is just how far identity verification now reaches. Alongside financial institutions and governments, DIACC’s membership includes organizations built specifically around automotive identity and financing, such as Dealertrack, Autoverify, Autocorp.ai, and Inovatec. That’s not a coincidence. Identity verification has become just as critical in the finance office of a car dealership as it is at the door of a bar or retail counter.
That overlap is exactly where Patronscan’s own platform lives. Patronscan is a widely used ID scanner for automotive dealerships, built to catch fraudulent documents before a test drive ever happens and to create the audit trail lenders expect before the keys leave anyone’s hand. As an ID scanner for car dealerships, the platform analyzes over 8,500 data points across more than 14,000 ID and document types, checking AAMVA formatting, cryptographic hashes, font spacing, and UV overlay patterns that a human eye simply can’t evaluate in the middle of a sale.
A few numbers from Patronscan’s automotive dealership solution tell the story:
- 500M+ IDs verified worldwide
- 14,000+ ID and document types supported across North America, Australia, and the UK
- 20+ years in identity verification
- 93% client retention rate
Dealer groups also benefit from Patronscan’s private, cross-rooftop flag network: when one location flags a fraudulent or high-risk individual, that record pushes automatically to every other connected rooftop in the group. The same “flag once, protect everywhere” model Patronscan uses across its other industries, now purpose-built for the dealership floor, test drives, and the F&I desk.
Whether it’s a logistics facility checking driver IDs or an automotive dealership verifying a buyer’s identity before a test drive, the underlying challenge doesn’t change: know quickly and reliably who you’re dealing with, without slowing the person down or collecting more personal information than the moment actually requires.
Building the Pan-Canadian Trust Framework, Together
Patronscan’s spotlight interview also speaks to why Canada is well-positioned to lead on digital trust: strong institutions, respected privacy and security expertise, a diverse population, and a track record of public-private collaboration.
“Canada can demonstrate that strong privacy protection and effective identity verification are not competing objectives. They are both essential components of a trusted economy.”
By contributing frontline experience, from retailers to automotive dealerships, to DIACC’s work on the Pan-Canadian Trust Framework, Patronscan is helping build the kind of shared, practical standards that let every sector benefit from stronger identity verification, not just the ones that get the most attention.
What This Means Going Forward
Joining DIACC doesn’t change what Patronscan builds day to day, which is forensic ID verification, fraud detection, and flag networks for the industries that rely on them. What it does is connect that frontline experience to a national conversation about how Canada builds trust in the digital economy, alongside governments, banks, telecoms, and fellow identity-verification innovators serving industries from hospitality to automotive.
